my friend recently gave me his old oud for free. the only major problem is that the bridge is broken. the top part where the holes are has snapped off of the main part. how would i fix that?

@1crazyrasta Hi. Any photos, can you take several images IF that's fine with you, I'll take a look and see what kind of fix can be for your Oud.
To answer In text: For your issue, usually It can be changed with a similar piece with same measurement, can be also replaced with same kind of wood or the material used there. Fixing such issue can take from a 1 to 3 days for A craftsmen. A non-craftsmen that has background in wood work MAY fix it, that's if has knowledge in instrument.

I purchased a Oud 20+ years ago and it appears to have a filler between the ribs?

@Reggae1942 Hi Reggae. Your issue can be caused from many factors. Among the issues are: IF an instrument (not only Ouds) is in a sea or high humidity location can cause "filler" or split to the ribs and other (bad) issues to the Oud. Others issues: Make or quality work of the instrument, to they way you used it.
Fixing this issue can be done several ways. In some cases the fix is simply add a new Filler. If the split is BIG like 1CM, in that cases is to be remove, add a new Rib..IF NEEDED.
