@sofiig92 It is sad if people in Argentina are so prejudiced against other people. It seems like a very unfriendly place for them. If I were anything other than Northern European I would not want to visit. :(

@sofiig92 Thanks for your reply, but I think that is a strange way of seeing Africans. Do you really see Africans as being "black" rather than a very dark brown? Black is the color of night time. No human being is actually as black as the night sky.  The melanin in people's skin which produces pigment is brown, not black, so it is impossible for any human being to be "black." People who think Africans are the same color as outer space should get their eyes checked. Greetings.

@artsylovelylady It's just makeup, has no hidden message jaja, is just a school function. In addition, African Americans are brown, but some Africans are black.

But, is just makeup, it is not racism. Anyway Argentina, unfortunately, is an extremely racist country. Especially with the rest of Latin Americans. Because the people believes that black people and brunettes are thieves, murderers, drug addicts, poor, etc. It's a silly belief, but is rooted in our culture. Greetings.

In Argentina it is common for kids paint their faces black in school events.

The reason is that here there aren't black people, because all blacks and indigenous were killed by the first Argentine government, in the XIX century. This goverment said: "We are happy because there are not gauchos, niggers, or poor people. We are decent people, patriotic people"

It is unacceptable to teach a child to wear "blackface" makeup. That is racist and backwards, belonging to the 19th century.
