  • The Americans are poor at math.

    That is why these dumb questions can trick these fools

  • @oskey22 @oskey22 because it's easier to bring to mind words that begin with the letter k, than to think of words that have k as 2nd letter (e.g. skate) we assume that there must be more of the former. The fact that they're more available to us (easier to think of) makes us assume there are more of them.

  • Probability is an area of maths that we are definitely not wired up to understand intuitively. It should be pointed out though that the probabilities of the six sibling families having the given combinations of boys and girls are only the same if the particular sequence is important. Ok, the data had the word sequence in it, but the professor didnot really stress it, and bearing in mind this is a psychology lecture, students mayhave assumed lessthan rigorousmathematical precisionin his question
