Important: Side impact crash test ratings can be compared across vehicle type and weight categories.
Test details:

The Hyundai Accent and Kia Rio were redesigned for the 2006 model year.
Injury measures:

Driver — Measures taken from the dummy indicate that rib fractures and/or internal organ injuries plus a fracture of the pelvis would be likely in a crash of this severity. In addition, loading to the shoulder was excessive.

Rear passenger — Measures taken from the dummy indicate that a fracture of the pelvis would be possible in a crash of this severity. The risk of significant injuries to other body regions is low.
Head protection:

Driver — The dummy's head was protected from being hit by any hard structures, including the intruding barrier, by a side curtain airbag that deployed from the roof and a side airbag that deployed from the seat.

Rear passenger — The dummy's head was protected from being hit by any hard structures, including the intruding barrier, by a side curtain airbag that deployed from the roof.

  • @Annihilator1111 Copy paste from WIKIPEDIA"

  • the 2005-2011 Hyundai Accent is assembled in

    İzmit, Turkey

    Ulsan, South Korea

    Beijing, China

    Chennai, India

  • I have an 08 model...was touted as excellent safety when bought (yeah yeah I had no experience in buying cars)

  • if any car crashed from the side if the body didnt crashed the glass will damge ur face the worst accident is from the sides even in the most awesome cars

  • I know the Accent and Rio are the same car, but in the crash test of the '09 Rio, it looks much better than this. The dummy wasn't thrown nearly as hard in the side test and it seemed to hold up a little better and airbags performed better in the frontal test. Was it improved for '09?

  • lololololololol so funny best comment on youtube... i split my sides

  • wow, i assumed that any car with side curtain airbags and side airbags, and the required 1997 door bars would get at least "acceptable" or maybe "marginal"

  • im gonna sue haundi! LOL JUST KIDDING haha

  • Nah, some small cars hold up pretty well compared to others and even some mid-zie cars out on the market. Your odds of walking away from the 08 focus stands much better then the last gen focus in a 35mph side impact.

  • Just watched it..they broke the same way. Both occupants of both vehicles would have been killed, your not going to be safe in any small compact from a side impact unless you get hit by a lawn tractor! lol!
