I really cannot accept that people don't reach this stage in normal development. I don't get what makes it so special. Can anybody help me understand?

I do not think nor recall in pictures. No longer have that part of my brain and what is left of the right hemisphere is heavily damaged. I need written word instead of these videos to bring your message to me.

I think that kid at the end developed a lot faster than I did.

They might've eventually realized that, if we had no thumbs,"thumb wars" wouldn't have ever been invented, people would have created another version of "thumbs up", and we'd have a different kind of writing utensil other than the pencil.
Both the sets of kids were formal-operational.

When my psychology professor mentioned that only about half of our population ever manages to reach the formal operational stage, a lightbulb immediately popped up over my head.
So half our population is stuck in concrete operational stage and can't think abstractly? This almost completely explains Fox News!
