If you rely on Hollywood b-movies (or even more recent efforts like "Dances with Wolves") you could end up with the impression that Indians have no sense of humor.
Not true, as the hero of Neil Flowers play, "Spirit of the Dead" finds out. His name is Henry (James Leonard) and he's an Anglo from Eastern Canada who's moved to British Columbia to "have an Indian experience." Thanks to John (richard Regan) and Hummingbird (Jerry L. Fryer), he has one, but not the one he expected.
Henry meets John when he helps John with tire trouble. As a reward, John takes henry to dances at a Cowichan Long House on Vancouver Island, and after that, to an old graveyard, where John plays his drum and communes with the spirits.
The name Coyote comes up - Coyte the trickster. You'd think this might tip off Henry - nick-named "Big City" by John - that John is messing with his mind. But Henry is an earnest young man, in love with Indians.
