A Time Lapse, Digital Speed Painting / Study by Arizona Artist Jephyr (Jeff Curtis) of a southwestern bird I believe is called a Grackle (a cool bird...somewhat like a crow).

The image was digitally painted using Autodesk Sketchbook Pro software
http://usa.autodesk.com/adsk/servlet/pc/index?id=6848332&siteID=123112
and a Wacom Intuos Tablet.

The video was captured with CamStudio and edited using Sony Vegas Pro 10 Video software.

The music bed was created with Sony Acid Pro 7.

A reference photo was used. If you know the photographer of the original image, please message me and I can add a credit and/or link.

  • @Jephyrx oh, sorry I don't have any money ^^' I was just looking for crow speedpaints but couldn't find any D: so I thought you might, sorry to seem like a bother!

  • @AikoShiri12 Hi again. I wasn't bothered by your question at all! : ) Hope you find a crow speed paint...I think they are awesome birds!

  • Do you take requests?

  • @AikoShiri12 Hello...thank you for asking. Yes I will take requests for commissioned and paid work. Anyone who would like to know more is welcome to message me and we can begin to talk about the specific project, costs and payment etc. Thanks again!

  • Awesome bird, but a teeny tiny thing is that the legs looked like steel when you zoomed in.

  • @Jouldon Thanks you! I just checked out the original photo I worked from and even that looks like the birds legs are steel-like...black and banded and so shiney they even reflect the bird's belly and the fence in places. It's interesting to see what things look like when your right up on them.

  • @Jeffhebert21 Hi and thanks so much! Most often I use the Sketchbook Pro stock airbrush which is "soft" and then vary the flow as I paint. Generally speaking more flow for laying out larger areas and edges ...less flow for detail and refinement. Best wishes with your bird!! If you post it on-line somewhere please let me know!

  • Wonderfully done! I have started a bird my self and I'm wondering what airbrush you used? Hard or soft?

  • @ness682 Hi neighbor, I actually "painted" this back in March so I can't remember...not too long especially when compared to making the music bed. It's looped based in Acid (still don't have my pc recording DAW running yet) and I did 3 different tracks before I settled on this one...prob'ly around 2 weeks just for that! : ) Congrats on nearly 3 million views! WOW!

  • Wow! Nice! How long does it take for you to finish these?
