Karate Speed Training - Candle Flame Punch

The candle flame punch is an excellent way to practice that explosive power and focus of your technique. This training exercise demonstrates the idea of Ki energy in the martial arts.

Through this drill, you will develop greater control and sharpness of your karate and generate a higher level of kime or concentration of power in your punches.

Unlike other videos that use a one-inch punch to extinguish or blowout the flame, I use a traditional karate punch, Gyaku Zuki. The one-inch punch is much easier because the flame in blown out by the quick detraction of the punch while a traditional punch requires the focus at the end of the punch with no retraction.

actually, in the Shaolin Temple, this exercise is done for hours (without the air coming from the clothes, of course). you can look it up here on youtube .. damn Shaolin Monks can kill you just by touching you .. xD

Ignore the trolls and dislikes. You have excellent form, and good kime- the snap of your gi makes that evident enough. Speaking of which, your uniform needs a bit of ironing ;)
