sfaber1 (and everyone else): This was not a UCLA film school short. Nelson didn't go to film school. He started making films on his own in the early '60s, and was 35 when he made Watermelons as an intermission piece for the San Francisco Mime Troupe's legendary production of 'A Minstrel Show'.

This was a student film from UCLA Film School. The assignment was called "Project 2." I was there at the time, also working on a Project 2 film. Incidentally so were Jim Morrison and Ray Manzarek. This was the fall the Doors were formed.
