Actually, maybe the President's science advisers can explain that carbon is a naturally occurring element in air and water, and not a "contaminant". Particulates contaminate, but not carbon.
OBAMA: These incentives will finally make clean energy the profitable kind of energy. And that will lead to the development of new technologies that lead to new industries that could create millions of new jobs in America -- jobs that can't be shipped overseas.
At a time of great fiscal challenges, this legislation is paid for by the polluters who currently emit the dangerous carbon emissions that contaminate the water we drink and pollute the air that we breathe. It also provides assistance to businesses and communities as they make the gradual transition to clean energy technologies.

Are these Carbon Credits supposed to be a useful tax that the People agree to, or are they federal punishment?

Just throwing this out there, but I don't think "carbon emissions" has ever been used in a press conference to describe the release of pure carbon. More like, carbon-based emissions that tend to be contaminants.

@idricool It isn't just Americans that are "too stupid..." It's humankind in general - take all the name-calling on this forum as an example. Fix yourself before you try to fix the world.

Raw Carbon is not something you (the poster)want to ingest I bet. If you want to prove your point that carbon is safe, drink some oil from the earth or inhale the tailpipe of a car or a smokestack of a coal plant to prove your point that carbon isnt a contaminant. Carbon can take many forms, (I.e carbon fibers, diamonds, organic compounds that decomposed into the oil we use today.) The contamination of our planet comes from the way humans manipulate the carbon, as in extracting the energy of it.

@idricool Carbon tetrachloride is a clear heavy organic liquid with a sweet aromatic odor similar to chloroform. Most of it is used to make chlorofluorocarbon propellants and refrigerants, though this has been declining steadily. Other uses have included: as dry cleaning agent and fire extinguisher, in making nylon, as a solvent for rubber cement, soaps, insecticides, etc.
YOU, my friend, are the moron. ChlorofluoroCARBONS are extremely harmful to our atmosphere.

@MortiisFaust A lot of people can do better, but Americans are too stupid to vote someone who is better. Their decision reflects their stupidity.

Lol, If Carbon was a contaminant we will all be fucked...
And... How can Carbon (an element needed for life) be a contaminant ?
Moron.
