i got a traps e400 kit, and the hi hat is giving me problems, it makes the open sound when its open and closed sound when its closed but when i strike it whilst its closed then open it , it doesent give me that noise it should , any advise?

You need to set the triggers/switches so they're positioned as i show in the video... the slight click they give off is the key to it all.

Hello there - need a little help! Ive bought an E450 second hand, about 1nyr old and its not too bad...but having set it all up from one picture online (and this video...thanks!) i'm no struggling wiht the differnt sounds. I have a great Tom1 sound, a cymbal on my bass drum and some sort of brush scratching on my snare! - its driving me mad! so... is there any easy way to set these up? is there a pre-set kit so i can jsut get started & can anyone show me how to set up hi hat trigger? THANKS!

Most Roland drum kits have "choke" capability. I don't know how they work though....

Not being able to mute your cymbals certainly detracts from the range of sounds you can make. Im wondering if on high-end electronic kits you can? Maybe some sort of heat sensor that senses when your finger are touching it? thoug that kind of fragile techonology would probably get broken after repeated strikes to the area im thinking.

i hav thiskit and i used to get this anoying vibration on it when i hit the hi-hat and if you hav ths all you need to do is tighten the screws on top on the blue thing ON TOP!

..well, my E450 arrived and I'm loving it. But alas, I didn't get a hi-hat clutch with my gear. So I'll have to give 'em a call after the holidays and get one sorted :(

If u are thinking of getting a traps E450 don't. i bought one a year ago and i have had so many problems with it. Had to get my snare replaced and i just received the wrong type. The symbol triggers are glued to the bottom of the symbol and just fall of after repeated use, i had to get a new high hat also. Save up and buy the roland hd1.

I've had the same issue with the triggers underneath the cymbals... pvc cement is the way forward.

hey, I was thinking of buying one of these kits. But as you know its hard to choose one thats gona sound good within a price range.
So how does it sound, and do all the triggers perform well enough to worth buying?

I think for the price, you'll not find anything (electronic) as good. With the pads you get the bouncyness of a real kit. The cymbals don't feel very realistic to hit, and can't be muted, but they're still good.
I've had a few issues initially with the triggers, but it was all down to getting the setup right, which Traps were very helpful with.
Soundwise, I reckon it's quite good... however, I'm no expert!
