Problem with running on NJT or Amtrak would also be the over head wires. Amtrak had to shut off a whole section of the Keystone Corridor just so they could get ex- Nofolk and Western 475 to Strasburg when Strasburg bought her. The stack was to close to the wires!

COOL the 3254 sound good with the 2317s whistle on..but i do enjoy her CN 5 chime alot.great video

Well Steamtown does what it can with what it's got. I think 2317 could maybe do 79, but I don't want to stress that engine out. Really, 759 and 3713 should be the long distance engines. Baldwin 26 and NKP 514 should do the Scranton Limited runs. CN 3254 and CP 2317 should do the Moscow runs, etc. That way they use the engines to the best of their abilities and aren't over using any one engine.

The big thing with running on NJT or the Penn system will be the speed of the train. Your running on a high speed commuter rail line. I think Baldwin couldn't do 79 mph if it wanted to. I'd be scared of 3254 doing 79 because it struggles often doing 35... NKP 759 and Boston and Maine 3713 could do it more than likely. I'd love to see Steamtown work a deal out with Ross Rowand Jr. and have CO 614 run, b/c that locomotive can do 79 like it's 25 mph.

Most likely, being that most in the legislation is slated for completion by 2025, I can assume this will be done by then. First segment is starting soon, and should be running by 2014.

I've always wanted to do something like that, but i've never known where to start or whether i could find people that are interested

Well I mean, how hard could it be to start something like a Friends of 759? They need someone to help get money into them, and if someone could start an organization that solely helps the 759, that'd be cool.

hopefully, if a group comes along to finance it. The Pocono Mountains NRHS chapter wont; theyre too busy keeping the Tobyhanna station standing, the L&WVRR chapter wont do another one, and no one else cares enough
-
I think NJT will allow them to run steam, they just need the high speed train. NKP 759 is the one they have picked for the job. It'll probably be running by the time the legislation wakes up and approves the cut off rebuild.

Even though she has bad cylinder casings, which would make restoring her cost a fortune
This was the first trip since 1993 due to the line is very busy now. I don't know if and when they will have another one.

when do they run this trip?

Last year was the first time since 1993. The mainline is very busy with freight which makes it hard to do. I don't know when it is planned again.
