@ScaryMonstahh yes he donot wanted to be caught, no one would suspect of a student, except L that found Kira in the first try! he wanted to live as long as he could to be sure that his wolrd of peace prosper, but he get insane and "possessed by Death Note! anyway, he did a very good job and humanity (in the anime) have learned about Fear, he maked the wolrd a better place... This should happen in Real Life too! :)

@ScaryMonstahh if you look more carefully, will see that innocent people lived in peace, while criminals were hiding in fear! thats a good thing, no more fear of being robbed or killed by a dopehead, no more pedos rapping kids, no more murders making victins!
that was Light plan, he would sacrifice hes soul and hes mind do make a better wolrd, he wold become the only "evil soul" in the wolrd! (first episode)
and he did so, but in the end he get obsessed with the Death Note!

@ScaryMonstahh anyway, he did what he thought that was right! watch the first episode and you will see. if he doesn't jugde them, who will do it (last episode) the wolrd IS rotten and IS FULL OF ROTTEN PEOPLE! he did the right thing! no one is innocent, but theres people that is more innocent than others, of course he got 'possessed" by de DETH NOTE, but he keeped hes plan from the begin to the end!

@MateusFolletto Light did not know if they were actually criminals though. They could have been innocent for all he knew. Who said it was Light's right to inflict judgement on human beings when he is no greater or sinless than any of them? Those innocent people knew what real justice was, not this perverted view of justice that Light had.
