Note: Please turn your sound up when viewing this clip - when I transferred the video to my PC, I can't have got the recording level set correctly.
My 12 year old Roundhouse Engineering "Argyll" has been transformed by the fitting of one of Chris Bird's Summerland Chuffers, and is seen here running on a typically overcast and breezy July afternoon on the Wiske Valley Light Railway (with thanks to my host Steve). If you want to hear what it's exhaust used to sound like, please see my video clip "Garden railway running in the snow -- the guard's view". Fitting the chuff pipe was simple and very quick, with 2 of us on the job it took about 20 minutes. I cannot speak highly enough of the Chuff Pipe - it's effect is simply unbelievable. There has been no adverse effect on the loco's performance, and plenty of steam still comes out of the chimney. Every loco should have one! Now we just need to find a way of recreating the smell of coal smoke from these gas fired live steamers.....
Super stuff Tim, can't get wait to get them fitted to my fleet. Sounds not unlike a Class 25 when the loco is at speed! ; >
