Several of you have asked me to put the great bar mitzvah video on YouTube.

YouTube has a 10-minute limit, so here are the final 7 minutes (starting after "I get a Kick").

To those on YouTube whose ideas I borrowed in the interest of making this the best, thanks for your inspiration.

  • It was tough topping this, but 3 years later, Ethan's sister's video is now published.

  • did you use any other programs besides pinnacle? Which version did you use?

  • @koockaks The only thing I used besides Pinnacle Studio was image editing software on some of the photos. I found it extremely helpful to speed up rendering by shrinking the photos before inserting them into the video. If you have a huge photo like a 25MB 4500x3000 RAW file, you can shrink it down to a 100K 1200x800 JPG and still get fine video quality.

  • I also edited some of the still images that I used in the chroma key sequences. Even if you shoot against a green screen, you can use image editing software to oversaturate the green and eliminate any shadows for a perfectly even background. I find that easier than trying to mess with the chroma key settings in the video after the fact.

  • Finally, I think I used Pinnacle Studio version 11 Ultimate for this video. I am currently working on a new video for my daughter's bat mitzvah using version 15. Look for that in a couople of weeks! Frankly, there's almost no difference between the versions, although I suspect the newer version makes better use of the new quad core processors.

  • How did you do the first part of the video with the moving psychedelic background with the stills?

  • @baseballsam910 The orange psychedelic background was some royalty-free stock footage from Sony. The blue & white background was an abstract photo that I just played around with in Pinnacle Studio to animate it (I was very pleased with the result). To add the moving stills, I took a photo, cut out the head and put it on a green background, then used the Pinnacle Studio video editor to fade in & out (pan & zoom later in the video), and chroma key to insert it over the top of the first track.

  • As someone who does this for a living, I was extremely impressed with your talents. Putting together all of that video is a megajob within itself. Then putting it with the music is another story. Fantastic job!!!!

  • Well paced & inspired montage!

  • Ethan's bar mitzvah video had 4 songs, but the length was just over 10 minutes, which exceeds YouTube's new time limit. So this 7+ minute version does not include "I Get a Kick".
