This is my sig Sauer P220 made in West Germany chambered in .45 ACP. The significane of it being made in West Germany is that this is told to be one of sigs periods of highest quality. Over the past few years Sigs quality control has slipped a little bit, leaving these older sigs more desirable. Not only because of their reliability, and accuracy right out of the box, but also because they are made in WEST Germany. If you know anything about history, you will know that Germany is no longer divided into West and East germany. With the destruction of the Berlin wall, these West germany sigs are going to become more and more rare as time goes on. There is more about them for you to look up if you want to learn more, do some research on google or just go to sigforum.com and ask about them, they know more about them than i do. Pete you'll really enjoy this stuff man. Also I was wrong about the european mag release being worth more, if you look in the blook book gun values book, the european mag release is actually worth 10% less it says.

  • I got mine W.German P220A personally from the then Col. of the Texas DPS in its original issued box with two extra magazines. I have carried it on duty for a long time now and it has a lot of holster wear. I came from old school where we were taught to run our S&W Revolvers very "dry". That caused me a couple of cycling issues with the 220 until I learned to keep the rails slightly greased or at least liberally oiled. Now it performs flawlessly which I cannot say about my Glock 23.

  • @WPMinor glad to hear another report of these old beauties running better than a glock. But yea keep those rails lubricated.

  • I've a mint condition P220 as well. I bought it new. (1993) Excellent gun but a thin blue finish. Over the past 18 years with rubbing oil on the external finish I've managed to thin the blueing at the very high point of the tip of the slide. Still have the original box, all the papers, too. I replaced the grips with Hogue wrap around finger grooved grips. I also bought a couple extra 8 round mags to supplement the two 7 rounders that originally came with the gun from the distributor. Cool gun!

  • @FaganRoberts Glad to hear another story of these older sigs running great. They truly are some of the best 45's ever made in my opinion.

  • I used to buy these up for $450.00 all of my Sigs are West German marked and boxed. I think they are better made guns.

  • @WizzRacing those must have been the days. You can still find them going for that on gunbroker but theyr are quite beat up.

  • @Netzahualcoyotl2008 yea Sig sells spring kits for them to replace the old springs if you want to etc. Despite various reviews about their customer service, I've never had a bad experience in dealing with sigs customer service. They have always been quite nice and helpful.

  • Are parts still available for this beuty?

  • @Thirteen20sixx thanks. Yea they are great guns. You should hold on to it
