Another week of vlogging! Talked this week about parenting after watching this video:

Look, guys. Gay parents can be just as good parents as straight parents can. Kids deserve more respect than they get for making the most of their life situation, so this isn't a strong argument anyway.

Part of why I hate the "gays can't raise healthy children" argument is that it is not only unfounded and totally not supported by any kind of data, but also makes me feel like I'm being directly attacked. I may be fighting for my own rights, but I want to have kids someday too. I don't want people to look at my children and just see them as the children of a gay couple.

I am of course sympathetic to your position on the pending vote in MN. I agree that a given gay couple can be far better parents than a given heterosexual couple. Parenting is a many faceted enterprise: the sexuality and/or marital status of the parents is only one (possibly minor/incidental) factor. Nonetheless, I do think that you romanticize the resiliency of children. I am delighted that the kids in Superior had smiles on their faces; but you cannot know the scars they carry within.
