@markmarktarmann this was recorded February1947 shorty before she was arrested and put in prison for possession of narcotics. A lot of her work has been remastered for better quality. She is my favorite singer of all time. You simply feel everything she was feeling at the time of the recording. You'll notice that her most successful songs were the ones that she wrote or co-wrote. She withheld nothing when she sang, her sorrow, anger, love and her fear. Good luck finding more of her work.

@spankiefresh21i need to hear more of her earlier recordings, somehow i ended up with only the really broken down late 50's stuff on compilations, which were so sad & not at this level. anybody have a date for this? i can think many songs i'd rather hear ella sing or carmen or sarah,astrid, my friend lisa leilani kekaula-vennum(she kills on god bless the child&them there eyes.)no such thing as the greatest. your favorite maybe. this is my favorite billie holiday track now though. beautiful.
