  • Nice job! How about giving copy on CD to Austin History Center for archival preservation?

  • @karolmiddleton If you send me an inbox email with a contact and address and I will send a DVD of the music video. Mary

  • Great video of the good old days. Reminds me of a joke: Q. How many native Austinites does

it take to change a light bulb? A. 5 - one to change the bulb and 4 to tell you how much better

    the old bulb was.

  • I miss The Stallion on N. Lamar!

  • 1965-1995? Seriously?

Traffic was already horrible by the late 70s. The good old days would be the 60s and early to mid 70s.

  • Mel Pennington is my grandfather! Love this song! Thank you for remembering him!

  • I wish things were still like this.

  • Girls at Barton Springs should have been topless. Should have mentioned Mother Earth, Vulcan Gas, the Whitehouse and Oat Willies, Freelands, the original Stallion and Moore Burger, the One Knite, New Orleans, Clubbfoot, Big Gil’s, Mooon on the Hill, Bag End, the Sandwich Shop on 6th St., Liberty Lunch, Sids, Hills, Picadilly, Raul's, Pure Foods, Safer Way, the Hiching Post, Aquafest with the sports car races around the Auditorium .....Ah hell....... they are all gone now...

  • I miss the old Airport i used to live by highland mall and the neighbor hood was right on the flight path, the house used to shake every time a DC-10 would take off !!

  • Great walk down memory lane, but didn't see the Vulcan Gas Co., where I spent many nights listening to Shiva's Headband and other great bands! The light bulb joke is so true...the best part about the growth in Austin is that we now have so many more restaurant choices, but the traffic really sucks.

  • Skipper pins. I haven't thought of those in years!

  • @TradeSafe Great post, TradeSafe. I've also enjoyed reading how other people have such strong, affectionate memories of Austin. I don't live in Austin now, but I sure cherish the time I did.

  • Wow, got choked up watching my childhood pass by.
