Hermans Hermits - Mrs. Brown you've got a lovely daughter 1965
Mrs. Brown you`ve got a lovely daughter
Girls as sharp as her are somethin` rare
But it`s sad, she doesn`t love me now
She`s made it clear enough it ain`t no good to pine
She wants to return those things I bought her
Tell her she can keep them just the same
Things have changed, she doesn`t love me now
She`s made it clear enough it ain`t no good to pine
Walkin` about, even in a crowd, well
You`ll pick her out, makes a bloke feel so proud
If she finds that I`ve been round to see you (round to see you)
Tell her that I`m well and feelin` fine (feelin` fine)
Don`t let on, don`t say she`s broke my heart
I`d go down on my knees but it`s no good to pine
Walkin` about, even in a crowd, well
You`ll pick her out, makes a bloke feel ..
If she finds that I`ve been round to see you (round to see you)
Tell her that I`m well and feelin` fine (feelin` fine)
Don`t let on, don`t say she`s broke my heart
I`d go down on my knees but it`s no good to pine
Mrs. Brown you`ve got a lovely daughter (lovely daughter)

I see a difference, but I see what you mean. But Herman had at least SOME talent.

One of the first "skiffle" strums to become a major hit record. I saw this live on t.v. as a kid. What a great time to grow up with these guys, the Byrds, the Beatles ect.

Actually this song has a few strategically place rhymes: "Walkin' about, even in a crowd/ well, you'll pick her out/Makes a bloke feel -- so proud". Best pop lyricist who does, quite often, without rhymes: Morrissey. His lyrics are so excellent and well expressed that you don't notice the lack of rhymes.

Peter Noone also liked the fact the song had no rhyming lyrics. When it became a hit, he eventually told John Lennon about this accomplishment, and John said, "no one is gonna notice."

I knew a girl named Brown. She ran off to the Army and I never saw her again.

Sorry. Peter Noone's was born 11/5/1947 and Mrs Brown charted in the Spring of 1965 so he would have been 17.

The Bieb's grandpa? Peter was born in 1947 and Justin in 1993 so it could be possible!
(Just kidding, of course)
