Hermans Hermits - Mrs. Brown you've got a lovely daughter 1965
Mrs. Brown you`ve got a lovely daughter
Girls as sharp as her are somethin` rare
But it`s sad, she doesn`t love me now
She`s made it clear enough it ain`t no good to pine
She wants to return those things I bought her
Tell her she can keep them just the same
Things have changed, she doesn`t love me now
She`s made it clear enough it ain`t no good to pine
Walkin` about, even in a crowd, well
You`ll pick her out, makes a bloke feel so proud
If she finds that I`ve been round to see you (round to see you)
Tell her that I`m well and feelin` fine (feelin` fine)
Don`t let on, don`t say she`s broke my heart
I`d go down on my knees but it`s no good to pine
Walkin` about, even in a crowd, well
You`ll pick her out, makes a bloke feel ..
If she finds that I`ve been round to see you (round to see you)
Tell her that I`m well and feelin` fine (feelin` fine)
Don`t let on, don`t say she`s broke my heart
I`d go down on my knees but it`s no good to pine

One of the first "skiffle" strums to become a major hit record. I saw this live on t.v. as a kid. What a great time to grow up with these guys, the Byrds, the Beatles ect.

Who else thinks that, in many ways, the world has changed culturally more in the last 40 years than in the previous *2000*?

note that the guitar player has a cloth inserted near the bridge on his Rickenbacker guitar to create the "mute" or "banjo" sound.

Just saw Peter at THE Fallsview a few months ago. He put on a fab show. Talked to him after the show. He is a true gentlemen. Good luck mate!

The world has changed. Yes. And it has not. No. So what. If I want to remember when I was 5 and had a crush on a 15 year old Peter Noone who couldn't dance and had a bad accent and bad teeth but a very good voice, what of it? Even standing still had more life than Justin.

On this day in 1965 {June 6th} Herman's Hermits performed "Mrs. Brown You've Got A Lovely Daughter" on the CBS-TV program 'The Ed Sullivan Show'
Two months earlier on April 17th it entered Billboard's Hot Top 100 chart; and on May 1st it peaked at #1 {for 3 weeks} & spent 11 weeks on the Top 100
Also on that very same day the Rolling Stones released "(I Can't Get No) Satisfaction" in the U.S.A.
"Satisfaction" reached #1 on July 10th, and Herman's Hermits "Henry the 8th" that replaced it at #1
