Today, more than ever, the global community is facing natural and man-made disasters. There seems to be an overload of individual and collective concerns. The YLaughter project, Yo Park's ongoing transmedia art project, is an experiment in both induced and spontaneous laughter to bring about physical and psychological well being and Joy. Its goal is not to entertainment but rather provide a tool to cope with today's ecological, social and political challenges. To achieve this purpose, I believe this project requires, above all, wisdom and insight offered by people of certain maturity whose vision is the end result of accumulated and interpreted experiences. That's why I reached a group of mature artists, actors and writers to collaborate with.
YLaughter: KAHKAHA Shoppe,* the first product of this effort, therefore, was co-created by two artists Cigdem Tankut, Gülsen Calik, and Yo Park. The show was comprised of laughter gaming and collaborative audio visual works by these three artists. As it can be seen in this video, it turned out to be quite interesting, unusal and dynamic. We, the three owners of the laughter shop, KAHKAHA, were able to impressively welcome visitors, engage and encourage them together with a laughter ball game and laughter shopping, to set their laughter free.
(* KAHKAHA: an onomatopoeic Turkish word that means laughter, as in hah hah ha in English.)
