Ja guru deva. Praises to the teacher. The Beatles had not been to India yet. They attended a retreat in Bangor. The Maharishi was an influence to John in this song but often not seen is Yoko Ono's influence. The lyrics reflect the Maharishi's philosophy but strangely also Yoko Ono's performance art from her book Grapefruit. Look up at the sky and imagine you are a teacher to the universe.
