Father's Day 2010...."YOU'RE MISSING" Remembering Tim Russert, Father's Day 2008

Tim Russert passed away the Friday before Father's Day 2008. I borrowed this footage from the first Meet the Press after his passing, 2 days later. But his words about fathers are with us always.

"Let us know, dont be afraid to tell somebody, Hey, I'm with you, we're bounded by blood. we're in this together, good times and bad and you cant close down those lines, Cause there's so many stories, so many painful stories, where daughters and fathers, sons and fathers dont talk for 7, 12, 15 years. Thank God they get back together, but you think of all that wasted time and effort. One father says, You know what? Dont fight during holidays, youll never get it back."

Thanks for your message- I too had no idea how much Tim Russert meant to me. I found myself making the dedicated channel to him on Friday, crying as I did. Yesterday, I watched Meet the Press and Tom Brokaw's words about Tim and Father's Day and Bruce Springsteen's dedication of Thunder Road with the poignant video footage with Tim's own words got me going again. We celebrated my dad's birthday and Father's Day with a family gathering and it was that much sweeter because of Tim Russert.

Sometimes hearts are so hard they can only be entered by breaking them. Tim left us the legacy of humor and forgiveness and listening!

I had a heart attack 06/17/09 one year after we lost Tim. I got to the hospital right away after remembering his, and lucky to be writing this. Your public heart attack saved my life. This video I thought about today on Fathers Day. Happy Fathers Day TIM - and I know Luke is missing you. RIP Tim - see you someday our Irish Catholic friend.

KayHayes, dead on. Somepeople will never be replaced. I mishh him too, in the one TV morning talk show I always made sure ti watch.. My Dad died when I was eight years old , but I have always taken him with me. He is the very person which makes me, still to this day.

I almost never get teary-eyed...but I did during this...being from Western NY, Tim was our best representative and truly embodied the spirit of the area. Rolling Rock, Buffalo Bills, Wings, Lake Effect Snow etc...and for a new TV journalist, it hurts on a deeper level, for I started as he left...truly a void when your local hero dies when you're about to enter his profession.
