Kenny didn't shoot or play all that well in this game and Curt Smith definitely got with him but not like he cracked him. He just showed that he was a good player who could compete with anybody. From what I remember Kenny missed the McDs with a sprained ankle that year and this game was the Cap Classic..
Kenny was legit no doubt but who knows how much his personal life affected his game over the years.
I have this game on DVD(from VHS)that i taped back in 89'. Curt Smith definately held his own but I wouldn't say he outplayed Kenny, it was about even. And Anderson didn't have 33 in that game, they were showing his season avgs. He had maybe 15-20 as i remember and Smith was in double digits too. You could see Smith's raw ability though, its a shame he never went too far.
@1300mikehoward old school DC heads have always maintained that Curt put up monster numbers in that game as well. And actually those numbers were kenny's season averages not what he scored in that game
Its not a doubt Kenny Anderson could play, he was in Sports Illustrated list as the number 6th grader in the country. I've heard that Curt Smith killed Kenny in that Capital Classic Game. Curt could go too, but after seeing Kenny's number from that game, its just a rumor!
Kenny had 33 points 7 assists and 5 steals, that means he had to bust some ass too, and they won. What was Curt numbers? I mean crossing someone is entertaining, but you have to get the win too!
