Free Pichai - Thailand's lastest victim of lese majeste law

Pichai was arrested by Thai police. He was denied of access to attorney and visitation from family and friends. We want the world to know about this situation.

On 5 April 2008, the related police department informed them of being charged of the lese majeste law and appoints them to listen to the charge on Tuesday 22 April 2008 at 1.30 pm at Pathumwan Precinct.

This is relating to the incident which Mr. Chotisak Oonsoong and his friend was harassed and charge under the article 112 of the criminal code regarding lese majeste. The article says "anyone insults or expresses vengeance to the King, the Queen, the crown prince and princesses will be persecuted with three to fifteen years imprisonment". This is after the express their freedom of expression by sitting during the "Royal Anthem", which happened on 20 September 2007.

LASTEST UPDATE: Pichai get bails and now leaves the Jail. I will see if we can get in touch with him and report what has happened with him in details. (will post in my blog). It's good that at least he's still alive.

I'm Thai. I respect the good things the King & the royal family had done (and good things everyone else had done too). I believe that no one should get any special privilege, and if someone has done something bad, they should be criticized or punished. No one should be put special in the law.

I don't know about Pichai, if what he said were true, I really hope he'llll be free soon and I'd like to thank him for his bravery for the freedom of speech which must be put in practice in Thailand.

This lese majesty law can be so easily abused by evil people to wipe out their enemies or put them in jail. They just need to pay a few false accusers and in no time, the accused will be nabbed by the police due to mass hysteria of Thais that their beloved King has been insulted. Jesus was similarly crucified using a few false witnesses. If the Thai king was truly an honorable man, he should just decree it be done away with.
