This is a disgusting Christian perspective that is all lies. It's not about a miracle, it's about the horrors of child slavery and a journey back to his people only to find that they were slaughtered by Europeans. Out of a heart of love and compassion he saved the lives of his enemy and eventually they killed him too. Who the hell is this Eric Metaxas??? Christian filth.

@KamidakeRed Hello, I don't blame Sqaunto. He was just a boy who was abducted and taken from his family and sold into slavery over the ocean. All he wanted was to get back to his people, only to discover they had died from the white mans diseases. Squanto was kind and compassionate. They took him for granted. Some say he was murdered by the settlers. This Eric Metaxas is evil.

this has little to do with God, the white man in my eyes is the real savage. i AIM to reclaim, how can this white man write about our people. he is so ignorant, the white man gave us disease tried to wipe us out. the white man used squanto to learn to survive because they would not have have survived i like the womens ending quote "we cant forget what american indians have done for us" yeah no kidding

I'm Native american and i think Squanto helped in the Genocide of our people.. he help a virus spread across our land the virus being the Europeans... and helped in the kill all the possible future generations of our people knowingly he help those outsiders when the tribe elders told him not to. if it wasn't for him teaching them how to live in the u.s Millions of natives would not have died by those monsters hands and our land would still be as beautiful as it once was.. Squanto is no hero...

Thanks for comment.I admit I'm a little touchy on this subject from shame. I'm white, no native blood, w/ direct bloodlines from both parents to Mayflower.I used to be so proud, until I started doing research&began to learn the rest. Most Americans seem to disguish between Pilgrims/Puritans.They were both just as fanatical/intolerant, in the end. I'm no longer so proud, esp since when my ancestors moved into "West", NY, the natives, again, helped them to survive,& ,,,,,

@starbugster - agreed. sounds very happy, and some of the story is, but looks like that is ALL that is told here. RARELY do we hear the real deal.
Give Squanto some credit!!! "God" gets enough already. It wasn't a miracle. He was just an amazing Native American.

"gods hands seemed to be involved in what happened to these pilgrams" -Eric was god's hands involved in the death of all the indians who died as a result of these pilgrams?
