  • This is a fun, upbeat song. Regularly played this record during the 7-midnight shift when at WDLP in Panama City during the Fall of 1967. Of the few surviving air checks from those days, have one air check that includes this song. The tape was made on the eve of the 1967 world Series between The Detroit Tigers and The St. Louis Cardinals. The 45rpm record of The Movers "BIRMINGHAM" as played from 7:27 to 7:30PM on October 3, 1967. I was the one that played it that night on WDLP. Played it often.

  • wonderful,the movers much memories...*pichon arguello,,argentina

  • @IDLERACER ...Other co=writer was Freddy Weller, guitar player of Paul Revere and the Raiders..Produced by Bill Lowery in Atlanta..Can't believe this wasn't a monster hit!

  • GREAT GREAT GREAT RECORD! Can't believe this didn't make top 10..As a DJ at WAPE radio in Jacksonville, Fl., we played the grooves off this record. In fact, I believe it was my pick hit of the week....Thanks so much for posting. Haven't heard this since 1968. I met the lead singer of the Movers about a week ago. He left the group about a year before this was recorded. He's now Joey Ray and the Raves out of Tampa....Gotta to listen to this again. Jim Shirah

  • I wonder if it's a coincidence that the British rock group "The Move" is famously from Birmingham (the other one). I notice that this was cowritten by Tommy Roe. I wonder if he recorded a version as well.
