Russian march composed in 1912 by Vasily Agapkin

The moment of parting is nigh
You look into my eyes with alarm.
I sense you dear breath,
And far away the storm is already gathering.

A tremor ran through the blue, misty air,
Alarm touched my temples,
And Russia calls us to a feat,
A breathe is wafting from the the marching regiments.

Farewell, the land of the fathers,
Remember us.
Farewell, dear glance,
Forgive-farewell, Forgive-
farewell...

Years fly by
Trains disappear in the dark.
In them -- the soldiers.
And in the dark sky
The soldier's star is shining.

In them -- the soldiers.
And in the dark sky
The soldier's star is shining.

Farewell, the land of the fathers,
Remember us.
Farewell, dear glance,
Forgive-farewell, Forgive-
farewell...

Forests, the steppe, junctions stand in the steppe
The light of the twilight, evening, morning --
So, don't forget the Slavic woman's farewell,
Repeat it to yourself in your soul!

No, the soul will not be indifferent --
The lights of justice shine...
For love, for the great fraternity
We have sacrificed our lives.

Farewell, the land of the fathers,
Remember us.
Farewell, dear glance,
Not all of us shall return.

Years fly by,
A the song -- your are always with us.
We remember you,
And in the dark sky
The soldier's star is shining.

Farewell, the land of the fathers,
Remember us.
Farewell, dear glance,
Forgive-farewell, Forgive-

    Yes.

The Russian musician Agapkin was inspired by the beginning of the First Balkan War in October of 1912, which he viewed as a Slavic Crusade against Ottoman Turkey. He wrote this magnificent march in honor of the Bulgarian women who were seeing off their menfolk departing to the front lines in Thrace and Macedonia to fight the old enemy of all Slavs, the Turks.

  • @lordbrainless1 ... in the only place the russian knew and prepared the germans made virtually no headaway until Stalin's stupid plains in Ukraine in '42? Nope it is not

  • @lordbrainless1 That's a military myth... Soviets were the most powerful force on earth ,just had retarded Stalin and bad officers. See the Army group South... is it a coincidence that

Sir, German Army had the British in their necks and Partisans and Patriotists in the occupied lands. They started at a time thex did not plan ( needed to help the Italians with greek before) and got into the russian winter.

But yes, Red Army fought back. With millions of people and the good old (german?) "fear your generals more than the enemy", with rusty old weapons and uncountable nuber of deaths.

but im glad they did this.

But the fact of the matter is that it was a republic. People voted and they got their man elected. Perhaps there was some "persuasion", but they still got a voice.

  • @KittyRokher Republic my ass. All of them were repuiblics. Hungary was a republic, but dare it move and the soviet boot would smack it down.

  • @FearThisChannel China as a nation is actually very prosperous (especially compared to its past), but the Chinese people? Eh... it depends.

And North Korea is pretty much the opposite of prosperous. Its militarily powerful, but it would still lose a war with the South, even if it was just a 1-1 war.

  • @KittyRokher To have been to Russia doesn't mean you know all about it.

First of all, if you have followed the news a little, you might reconsider your idea of "Russian democracy" a little more. Besides, being a superpower doesn't mean one is prosperous. China, too, is a superpower, yet not prosperous. North-Korea -- not a superpower, but certainly very powerful, yet not prosperous.

before actually starting to insult people right away, be nice and explain
