This is a short video describing the language proficiency requirement that took effect on June 1, 2009. All bilingual education certification students at UTSA must take the ALPS exam as a diagnostic and as a requirement for admission to teacher certification. The ALPS measures students' levels of academic Spanish in the areas of reading, writing, listening, and speaking. You can take the ALPS as soon as you know you want to seek bilingual education certification, even as early as your freshman year! Thanks for watching! ¡Nos vemos en la cima!
