Boy Shoots Mom In The Head - Confesses On 911 Call

A ten-year-old boy has been arrested after telling a neighbour that he had shot and killed his mother.

Deborah McVay, 46, was found dead from a single gunshot wound to the head on Sunday night in Big Prairie, midway between Cleveland and Columbus, Ohio.

According to local police, paramedics found Miss McVay lying facedown on her living room floor. She was pronounced dead at the scene. It is believed the bullet was fired from a .22 calibre rifle.

Authorities went to the home after a neighbour called a sheriff's dispatcher to say Miss McVay's son had approached her and said he had just shot his mother.

Miss McVay's body was transported to the Stark County Coroner's office for an autopsy. Miss McVay's 15-year-old daughter, who was at home at the time of the shooting, is now staying with relatives. It is unclear whether she witnessed the shooting.

The ten-year-old son is being held in Richland County Juvenile Detention and was due to appear in court later this afternoon.

Authorities said the boy, who has not been named because of his age, had a history of behavioural problems.

When he was six years old, he was involved in a dispute with his school bus driver and year later removed from school for attacking the principal.

Look people, there is nothing wrong with a country family having a lot of guns, I have plenty of family with arsenals in their homes, of course I have guns in mine. But you have to be careful, like having all the gun's on safety, unloaded, and maybe in a safe or something. There should never be a loaded gun lying around like happened here.

country people and guns are not cause to this problem. were you there? no. did you know the home life? no. i know the family very well. you don't know the full story or what all happened. the news only give you certain things. same with the newspaper. newspaper said his mother and father had a dispute over letting him have guns because she did not want him to have them in the first place. there is no reason to put anyone in this family down. not the brother or sister or grandmother.

i'm not into guns at all, but i don't see individual cases of guns hurting people is evidence for why there should be no guns. tons of people drink and drive and kill people, we don't ban cars
