Feedback, baby. How it works and how YOU can CREATE IT and UNLEASH IT IN ANY KEY and AT ANY TIME!!! MY GEAR: I'm using my '93 Ernie Ball Music Man EVH guitar and Peavey JSX amp...distorted and turned up loud. Thanks for watching and subscribe to see my coming videos --

JIMI HENDRIX HISTORICAL NOTE - After receiving a few comments about this, I need to clarify that I'm not saying Joe Satriani invented feedback here. Jimi Hendrix used feedback at least 17 years before Joe's career even began, and George Harrison used feedback only mere months before Hednrix's use of it as well. This video was made not to snub Jimi or George but rather to explain the modern technique used by Joe Satriani to manipulate feedback into a tonal undertone over a chord progression, which, like it or not, Hendrix and Harrison never did. This was not said to take anything away from Jimi Hendrix as he did popularize feedback long before Joe's use oif it. We love Jimi Hendrix and his wicked use of feedback in the late 1960's, but this video was made to address the overall concept of feedback as well as the advanced techniques that Joe has brought us some 40 years later.

  • bro i freakin love you!!! The reason i watched this vid was to find out how to do the intro to flying in a blue dream!!!thank you so much!!!!

  • @hspartin right on brother - you struck gold! ha - and thanks alot for the kind words man and glad it helped ya!

  • @DirtySteve232 i was wondering if feedback was bad for pickups, my friend told me so, and i want to just be safe, dont want to have to spend $400 on pickups

  • @shreddergriffin Feedback is 100% totally harmless to your pickups. It's just a note ringing out from volume resonating through your guitar and vibrating the string....just like if you were picking it.

  • This vid was great & U rock. I love Joe satriani and I have till now only played his licks on acoustic guitar, but I wanna but electric guitar and amp. Please suggest a good beginner electric guitar and amp for getting joe's tone. I know that in the early days joe only used Boss DS-1 and Marshall amp to get his tone, He is freaking awesome. I want to play Hendrix and satch stuff, I like ibanez guitars for their design, but I am a novice in this field, pls suggest something.

  • @punnu5997 Hey man thanks for the kind words. I'm not a fan of beginner guitars. I understand people don't want to invest and commit at first, but you should really try to get as much guitar as you can for the money. Ibanez is a fine guitar company where even the affordable models play great and sound great. I'll message you for more on this.
