I recently bought the Camera Connection Kit for my iPad and an ESI MIDIMATE II MIDI interface which has two cable which both can function as out- or input. And here a video using Little MIDI Machine sequencer App on the iPad. One ESI MIDI cable is connected to the Creamware MiniMax ASB which MIDI Thru is connected to the Waldorf Q Keyboard. The green 16-step sequence screen is driving the MiniMax and the orange 8-step one the Q. The second ESI MIDI cable is connected to the Doepfer MAQ16/3 sequencer to synchronize it. The 8-step sequence on row 1 of the MAQ16/3 is driving the Ian Fritz Teezer Through-Zero VCO which is driving the Blacet Miniwave. The 4-step sequence on row 2 is driving the self-built Modular. The gate of row 3 is shifting the Synthesizers.com Q960 sequencer which has an 8-step sequence for the bass with only step 1 active on the Q963 trigger bus and later on also step 7. The Mellotron flute sound is played on the Roland XP-80 and the solo on the Clavia Nord Lead 1.

The video is filmed by my girlfriend Anne using my iPhone 4.

You can download/see/hear the video and music from my website.

  • Hi, Thats very intresting and lovely, so you can use the ipads sequenser midiclock, to control the other sequensers, would/could yo explaine it a bit more please? thank you

  • @Samadhijunkie Well, there is really nothing much to it. The iPad has an ESI MIDIMATE II connected to the Apple Camera Connection Kit USB adapter. The ESI has 2 MIDI cables which can both act as input or output. One cable is connected to the Creamware MiniMax ASB which MIDI Thru port is connected to the Waldorf Q Keyboard. The other ESI MIDI cable is connected to the MIDI in of the Doepfer MAQ16/3 sequencer which is slaved (ETC on the display) to the MIDI clock on the input.....

  • @attorks ... The gate of row 3 is connected to the shift input of the Synthesizers-dot-com Q960. The speed of the Q960 is now controlled by the speed of the gate on row 3 of the MAQ16/3. The Little MIDI Machine App on the iPad can be set as MIDI Clock master. Now all 3 sequencers run in sync.

  • Hi,

Yes, we need applause at the end. Great song, ones again.

    Greetzzz P

  • Musically very pleasing timbres. Like Emdot (hi Em) I'm yet to find a compelling reason to own an iPad but this gets me closer.

  • Awesome! You seem to find the only good reasons for owning an iPad ;) Mostly what I see on it is just mildly interesting. But you've demonstrated a couple useful apps so far. And the music's great, too! Probably one of my favorites by you!
