The problem: My wired connection is non-existent. In this video, it attempts to connect, but drops, attempts, and drops, etc, etc.

My attempted resolutions:
Connect laptop directly to cable modem: Failed

Connecting brothers Dell laptop to same cable as used by the laptop, the Dell found the wired network and connected properly.

Updating drivers/computer: Failed

Live boot of Ubuntu: Failed

Took apart laptop to check for anything disconnected within computer hardware: Failed - Wiggled cable in computer jack: Failed

I'm chalking this up to a failed part on the motherboard...

My laptop: Toshiba A105-S4024

  • I have this same problem on a desktop motherboard. Could never get this Intel PRO100/VE to work.

You can try forcing the link speed to 10Mbps half-duplex on properties of the network adapter. Maybe it will maintain a connection.

  • I tried that. It ultimatly came down to a hardware issue, the card it self fried. The last test I tried was a live boot of linux and I still had the problem... lame. Stupid laptops

  • Try another internet connection. I get that a lot when the modem fails. My card works perfectly with an outdated driver. It doesn't even have all the tabs you have. It came along with my regular drivers.

  • I tried that one as well. Brought it into work and still no luck. The outdated drivers is a great idea, however, Linux would of taken care of any driver issuse on the soft install. Fairly certian I've fried the thing.

  • Cuz of the connection

  • I can't work my computer

  • Yeah, looks like it's the card itself as you concluded. Luckily, replacements are fairly inexpensive on ebay.
