In 2006 the FDNY Pipes and Drums traveled to Letterkenny to compete in the All Ireland Piping Championships. We competed in Grade 4A and took 2nd place. Reportedly we were the first American band to ever place in the top 4 in this many years old and very prestigious contest.

  • @coveredexpress Maybe you have discovered The 'scottish' language in the DNA evidence. The famous irish theologian was called Johannes Scotus Eriugena,'Scottus' in the Middle Ages was the Latin term for Irish.

  • @coveredexpress Are you Scottish or maybe a Northern Irish protestant?. Either way I feel sorry for the kids you mislead. Please tell me where your 3,000 year old written sources on Scottish civilisation are. The Irish language is the oldest written vernacular in Europe or are you saying there are older Scottish documents.

  • Ist tune is " The crags of Tumbledown" written by PMaj Jimmy Riddell. He was my pipe major when I was in the Scots Guards. The story is, he wrote it or parts of it on the back of a range card which is printed on a one man 24 hour ration box shortly after the battle. He also wrote "Kirkhill" which is a great 6/8 march

  • Who cares we Irish play the Pipes better!! :O) although our Scottish brothers are not that bad either!!! ;O) who cares they sound pretty good for a Firebrigade Band!!

    Bravo!!!!!

  • @coveredexpress No it wasn't. The name was given to the irish and the irish who settled in what became Scotland. Ok what was the original name that the pre scottish inhabitants called Whiskey then? Mc or Mac come from the Irish word for son of. Really is there a 10,000 year old history book you managed to acquire?

Forget what I just wrote. I didnt realise you were Irish. In that case you must be right. What was I thinking.

  • @coveredexpress Ok when I say passed onto you I assumed you were Scottish but anyway the following were passed by the Irish to the Inhabitants of what is now called Scotland: The bagpipes, whiskey, the name Scotland and their language and their their surnames. BTW I am not American.

  • @BigCheese462 Its irish culture which was passed onto you.

  • @RonaldReagan7 I believe this is crags of tumbledown mountain

  • Can someone please tell me the name of this tune?
