wait are you saying suddam prevented these two religious factions from fighting?
and your also saying iraq was a plan to draw the sunnis out of their territory to fight in a country that was not officially or diplomatically involved in the conflict? basically use iraq as a battlefield for the U.S. to wage a war against a small religious extremist group? wasn't the country told we were in iraq because suddam had WDM's.... rather misleading i think

Overly simplified and not complete accurate, think sunni as medieval catholic, shia as protestant and Iraq as a mix of both (but mostly shia) that have been kept from killing each other under the threat of (real) torture and death by sunni leader (saddam)

@ turtle- Yea, partly, but AQ is there

Al-Qaeda is sunni, Iraq is mostly shia. Sunnis and shias hate each other as much as they hate the "white devils".

Iraq is a plan to bring the more violence prone sunni extremest out of the wastelands and directely into their publics eye. To kill the Robin Hood or David and Goliath image they try and make for themselves.

The US will never be well recieved in the middle east, ever. Which is fine as long as the extremest aren't also

al-queda didn't COME to iraq after we were there... and even if they DID, and i am wrong, it is a FACT that the major opposition we were fighting in iraq for the entire time was primarily the dis-banded military of iraq that was once under control of saddam. general patreas's decision to dis-band these militaristic nationalistic armed men and leave them suddenly without a purpose to fight for was the main reason for our infinite struggles in iraq.
