Dude you're way wrong. I'm a Marine and Marine grunts are just the same as Army grunts. Marines for the most part are a maritime force. The only elite force that Marines have are the Recon elements and if you aren't recon then your'e just a regular grunt. The reputation for Marines are first to fight is not always true. The Army's 3rd Infantry was the first infantry unit to roll into Baghdad. How do I know this cause my brother was in that unit and he throws that in my face...

@PMAN46 Um, the Marines are practically out of Iraq. It's up to the Army now to train the Iraqi Army. The Army doesn't just police, get the basic facts down. I spoke to a U.S. Army soldier yesterday, while in Iraq he saw a total of 4 Marines. I highly respect the Marines, and people who support them, but don't go around insulting the biggest, most well equipped force that is keeping your ass safe. Thanks for you attention.

@arminf06 I agree. That and spec ops groups from the Army, Navy, and Marine Corps. As well as Air Force PJs. Those guys usually get there before anyone and access the situation and do there thing and that usually consists of Firefights and fighting. thus they are first to fight. @GuerrillaGrowerOne yeah i know but the extra pay will help, and since i plan on living on base and eating mostly at their chow hall, on top of the fact that im a cheap ass the extra money will help, im setting up a 60% of my pay allotment to a account i wont touch unless i HAVE to. that leaves me 40% of my pay for leisure money, and after my 5 years ill be pretty good on saved money, IF i dont reenlist, which i probably will

@arminf06 Dude, I like your reasoning there. I'm a former army grunt. I was a paratrooper in the 82nd Airborne Division during the 2003 invasion. People back home here where I live have that "Marines are first to fight" belief. And like you said, that's not necessarily true. In reality, all grunts are first to fight in their own special way. We were first to fight in As Samawah, as where the Marines were first to fight in Nasiryiah. And the 3rd ID was first to fight at their objectives

I've been trying to decide between Army and Marines for the longest time, and i think ive settled on Army ( i can rank a lot faster, if i do it right i can be an E-3 before i go to basic) and i was always concerned about not living up to the reputation. Fearing people would always say "marines are better"
