  • Do you think there is any harm. If the tape over laps a little with another tape

  • @plestes No there is not harm if the tape overlaps other tape.

  • Hi

what is the advantages using plaster of paris verses 20 minute quick dry ?

the other day I used 20 min quick dry I was trying to get all three coat, I barley got 2 on was taking long time to dry, maybe I was using to much water ?

    Regards

    Collin O

  • @Collinoulton The difference between 20 minute quick dry and plaster paris is about 10 minutes. Each coat has to harden before the next coat goes on so I wait 15 minutes before applying my next coat of plaster of paris mixed with mud. You would have to wait 20 to 25 munutes before you apply the next coat of quickdry.

I hope that this helps you to understand more.

    Sincerely, Laurier

  • Ok. QUESTION! I cut holes in drywall to accommodate can lighting on ceiling. I made the hole too big. What is the best way to make the holes for the can lighting smaller? tape and mud? is the paper ok against the can? seems like it may get too hot. Thanks!

  • @MforMarley You are right. Tape and mud is the way to fix it. When you say can, you mean potlights. Pot lights are made to clip onto drywall without getting too hot.

  • @Vpopov81 You don't have to use quickset at all. You can use 20 minute quick dry ,45 minute, 90 minute or even drywall mud that drys in 24 hours if you like.

  • What if instead of plaster of paris I use 20 minute quick dry because that's all I have at the moment

  • @Vpopov81 No I don't use quickset on the bigger projects just the one that I can complete the coats in a day.My main trowel is 4'x12" stainless steel. My large one is 4 1/2"x16"also stainless steel. It's up to you if you want the larger one.

  • Do u use the quickset mix for all your projects? Also what size trowel should I buy? Do I need 2??
