  • What model Hammond is this?

  • @KC9SYJ Hi, it's a Hammond XE2 - basically two single (XE1) Hammond keyboards, with a pedalboard. There IS a Hammond XE200, in a nice black shiny wooden cabinet... but that costs an extra couple of grand... so I thought I'd stay with the 'cheaper' version.

Mind you, the stand is too high : around 3cm to 4cm higher than 'normal' organ height, so after an hour or so, back/shoulders/neck begin to hurt. Put blocks under the bench, but then it gets the knees!

Best wishes from sweden- Peter :)

  • I started playing the organ in the 80's on and off, but I learned a lot just watching this clip. Many thanks for sharing those tips with us Peter. Excellent job done.

  • @andy04134 Thanks for your kind comment, and for watching. I am really pleased you found this little clip helpful. Good luck with your music, and best wishes from Sweden - Peter :)

  • @HaywardMusic:

Ah... I just started to create some new sheet music. (As I have bad eyesight, I enlarge sheet music from fake books.) La Golondrina was on my list, but so I seem to already know it :)

  • @SilverHammond Hi, Yes the name Jim Harris is familiar and I will check out his videos.

The song I used at the end (as a good 'demo' piece for Open Harmony technique) is a traditional piece called 'La Golondrina' - which also found fame in the 'charts' as 'She Wears My Ring'.

A full arrangement of this music can be found in my book - 'How to Play Open Harmony'.

Good luck with this classic organ technique :)

  • Thanks for explaining :) Did you know the late Jim Harris? He had some great organ video's on YouTube with the Technics FA1. You seem to be picking up where left off. Nice to see someone still teaching the organ.

What is the song you end with called? I can play it; seem to have known it forever, but I never found out the title.
