These photo's were taken by a local lady, and were mailed to me in September of 2004. When we were on location just outside of Tallahassee, Florida, in a small town called Saint Mark's, FL, The location in the photos here are at Apalachee Bay as you can see from the sign at the local fire dept , and it's located just a few miles away from Saint Mark's, Fl. I was shooting with (TWC) Meteorologist Mike Bettes on Hurricane Frances September 5th 2004 I believe, and some of the photo's were taken the day before the storm came through, and a few after the storm. As you can see from the sign they were worried about Hurricane (Ivan) could be next, and might be headed that way.

We had also shot on location in St, Marks at a place called (Posey's) which was flooded by Hurricane Dennis in 2005, and I was told never reopened because the foundation was compromised. They had really great food, and were very kind to all of us.

We also stayed a a bed and breakfast called Sweet Magnolia Inn on Port Leon Dr, and what a really nice place and I only wish I could have gotten some sleep when I was there. Shooting live all day and into the late night then breaking down the gear to head back for a little food and couple of hours sleep doesn't leave much time for much rest before you have to get up again, and do it all over the next day. If I remember correctly the bed and breakfast was also flooded by Hurricane Dennis as well, but did re-open again for business soon after.

Now that was a little hard on all of us as you don't get much sleep when doing storms like these. I had just worked on Hurricane Charley in Daytona Beach a few weeks earlier with a great crew, and (TWC) Meteorologist Stephanie Abrams, and (TWC) Photographer William Rambert who I also worked with many years before that at WVEU TV 69 in Atlanta, Ga. For me that storm was much worse as far as wind, and rain.

When I was working with (TWC) Photographer William Rambert in Daytona on Charley, he had a close call that night when he was shooting B-Roll when we could no longer go live, and the vehicle he was in had a traffic light go through the rear window. That's when he decided it was way to dangerous to be out, and headed back to the hotel. Close call...

For those who care I was shooting with my Ikegami HC-390 at the time with a nice Nikon lens X2, and a Sony Beta PVV-3. It was the one camera that held up in Charley because the humidity was so bad it got in the lenses of the Sony cameras, and I think they were Fuji. Says allot about Nikon, huh! Also the ENG truck belongs to me as well, and it's (Laurachelle 2)

I shot video of the pictures I had with my little Sony Mini-DV that doesn't have a safe area in the view finder, and that is why it looks like it does. So it it what it is, but you get the idea of what we did, and where we were at. Most of the time I don't have photo's, and consider myself to be lucky to have the ones here that I do.

P.S.
A very special thanks to the locals of Apalachee Bay for making Mike, Ronnie, and our uplink truck operator feel very welcome to the area. Also for all the kindness they showed us in bringing food and drinks when we had nothing at times. We were all very grateful, and will never forget them in the kindness they showed when they didn't have too. You all know who you are, and thanks again so much for everything.
