@91mperez I had a really soft voice and I wanted to be able to do more gruff stuff. A lot of it is practice, and just pushing it. Hurts at first but eventually you'll toughen up your vocal cords.
Also, it's not a good excuse, and I don't condone it. I smoked a lot of cigs to scar up my voice a bit so I could hit some of those notes without it hurting. I smoke much less now but, yeah.. I took a cue from Tom Waits and figured there had to be a little something to it hahaha
