  • I remember a couple years ago my brother bought a record player, that came with a free record. Long story short we didn't how it worked. So don't be surprised if twenty years from now teenagers won't know how to play a cassette player.

  • Yes and Link Wray was another innovator…

  • @rockitMiC That's true, with Johnny Burnette it was accidental, but with the Five Royales it was intentional, although I guess it could be debated whether or not The Slummer was actually a hit.

  • @MVillani1985 Not a fuzz guitar in Johnnie Burnette's songs! Distorsion is not fuzz…

  • Is there a campaign to free Phil Spector? No disrespect to Lana Clarkson, but having a fit- for which he was prescribed medication- with tragic consequences isn't murder.

Whilst there is some evidence to suggest Phil pulled the trigger , that he was in a lucid state of mind at the time is doubtful.

I'm a musician with schizophrenia, and the problem with medication is it dulls creativity considerably.

  • Originally released in the fall of 1962. Billy Strange plays the "fuzz" guitar solo in the middle...

  • Darlene Love! The Voice. Inducted Into The Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame!! 3-2011

  • @DETROITBULLET Actually, they had distorted guitars as early as 1956. Check out "The Train Kept A Rolling" by Johnny Burnette, which if I remember right was a pretty big hit. Another early song with distortion was "The Slummer" by the Five Royales from 1958.

  • I love the "Wall of Sound"!

  • THIS SONG IS A MASTERPIECE!!!! The way Phil Spector produced and arranged this is wonderful and the singers SANNNNNNG THIS SONG!
