http://www.revzilla.com/motorcycle/afx-fx-39-dual-sport-helmet The brand new for 2011 AFX FX-39 DS Helmet is an entry-level dualsport and enduro helmet that packs a ton of features and functionality at the $115 price point. They've made huge strides forward from their previous FX-37, maintaining the same price while packing in a ton of new features. The shield, a complaint with the FX37, has been flattened significantly for a less distorted view and overall improvement in visibility. The helmet now comes stock with flat side covers for street riding whereas they were a separate purchase with the FX37. The chin strap system is now a ratcheting retention system rather than the basic double d-ring closure. Lastly, and this is big, all of the intake ventilation is now open/close so it can be turned off; previously, all the vents were open all the time. All the basics remain the same on this helmet, but we think it's really a great value at this price.

  • this looks like the varient would i look dumb with this on a cbr?

  • @tbonelittlet This is a great option for city riding. We sell a lot of DS helmets to sportbike riders!

  • Any word on how well this helmet does with prescription glasses underneath?

  • @CounterProdClan The padding inside is pretty plush so it depends on the thickness of the frames. Thick frames might not be too comfortable but we definitely have customers riding this helmet with glasses.

  • Is this helmet essentially the same as the Fly Trekker DS? Any differences other than colours? If so, which one is the better helmet?

  • @kevipew It seems that the shell is made by the same manufacturer, so there are a lot of similarities, however, the helmets are finished differently; so comfort, size, fitment and other factors will distinguish the two from each other. We haven't really seen one clearly pull ahead of the other as of yet...

  • @RevZillaTV Cool, I'll give it a shot. Thanks a lot, appreciate the fast response.

  • @kevipew Will the tinted shield fit the Fly Trekker helmet they look the same and I cant find one for the trekker.

  • @kevipew They're basically the same helmet The Fly has conventional "D" rings on the chin strap, and the sizing is more accurate with the Fly. There's a great post at advrider(dot)com that will answer any questions you might have. For the price, it's a great lid !

  • I've had this helmet for a few months now and love it ! The amount of air that moves through the helmet is great for riding in hot conditions , it's a bit noisy on the freeway but other than that I can't find anything wrong with it . I've got a dark smoke visor on a white helmet and I get compliments from other riders all the time ( looks great and dose everything as good or better than a high end ds helmet ) I've also used the Joe rocket ds and the ari , I like this one much better
