An educational resource from AMIRIA [BLOG]: http://www.amiria.co.nz/artist/a-level-art-design-coursework-as-painting/

This outstanding AS Art Coursework Project gained 100%.The sketchbook, supporting A1 sheets and final piece are based on traditional and contemporary instruments. It was completed by Nikau Hindin, while studying A Level Art and Design at ACG Parnell College. Nikau is currently in her first year at art school and is an up-and-coming photographer. Her work is available for viewing at http://www.fashionphotos.co.nz/

This video is one of the educational resources created for AMIRIA [BLOG], an art blog aimed at helping IGCSE, GCSE and A Level Art students gain excellent grades. AMIRIA [BLOG] contains additional AS Art Exam examples, ideas, and analysis of preparatory work and A Level Art final pieces.

Questions and feedback welcome.

I look forward to hearing from you.

  • amiriablog Can i ask how a sketchbook should be structured? I don't know in what order to do things? I've just started on a new project.

  • @MrItsabeautifulday Hi there, sorry for the delay in responding to your questions. Can I ask that you please visit my blog (see the link in the description above) - there is more information about presentation of sketchbooks and the order to do things (discussed in a post about 'development'). If you ask questions there it is much easier to provide detailed responses than it is on YouTube. Thanks - I look forward to hearing from you! :)

  • This is great :) what did she write about in her sketch book? I'm doing my AS sketchbook but I'm struggling with finding things to write about

  • @ben7675 Hey, thanks for your comment. She wrote about the ideas behind her work; artists she studied; compositions - analysed in terms of line, colour, tone, texture etc...

I have a post on my blog (link in description above) that is specifically about sketchbooks which may help you. :)

  • that's so cool, you have the same numbers as me for the candidate number! except mine is more jumbled up:P nice work btw:)

  • @Bettyxox2 I'm glad you like it :) It is my student's work, not mine, by the way - she was an awesome student! :)

  • @MrItsabeautifulday Yeah i'm more clear on what i need to do now, thanks :)

  • @ben7675 I'm doinh it too and have the same problem, but my dad's an art teacher. You've GOT TO write about the process... How this leads to that, how you can relate this to that, etc.

  • @amiriablog Thanks alot! youve been a big help :D

  • @celobean Hi there, thanks for your question. :) Do you mean which examination board? It was completed for CIE A Levels, which are the international A Levels administered by Cambridge University. ...if you are referring to the board her final painting was on, it was on a framed MDF board. Hope that helps! :)
