Model hot air balloon motor and autopilot. Vapor service pilot burners with liquid service main burners. Motor controlled with a microchip 18f2550 microcontroller running a proportion-derivative-integration algorithm with max altitude and radial distance as set points. Onboard input sensors include GPS, accelerometer, pressure altimeter, and envelope temperature. Flight path and data are recorded to an SD card. A real-time flight data and emergency override ground communication link is established via an onboard 1 watt high gain digital packet transceiver. Electrical system power is provided by a single 10 amp*hour Li-ion polymer battery. Motor carries three 16.4 oz cylinders of liquid propane.
