When I read Ava Gardner's autobiography My Story, I was taken aback at what an amazing woman she was from the glamorous regular on the Hollywood social scene.

Yes we always see Ava at the top clubs with friends Lana Turner and husbands Frank Sinatra, Artie Shaw and Mickey Rooney.

Yes we always saw an immaculate goddess make men swoon in The Killers, The Barefoot Contessa and Mogambo.

Away from that star is a truly inspiring woman. A simple upbringing, and high moral values, Ava Gardner experienced many traumas in her lifetime, only to come out on top.

One of the most beautiful women in the world, Ava Gardner is not only a great of the screen, but a woman whom we should all admire.
