how many ipm does your z-axis travel? Stepper or servo? Any plans available for the z? I have one, but it is a snails pace compared to yours (a dead snail at that)

What software was used to generate the part program?
-
Is that a rhetorical question?
No, I paid $900 to upgrade from the old software. What does home-built have to do with it? :)

I guess this thing is good for light loading/precise work like what you're doing here? XD wood clamps arent the most rigid of things.

The bed is an aluminum T-slot table. it's esaiser to clamp small pieces of alu to MDF for quick work.

Oh man I see on cnczone now... Do you still use aluminium and mdf structure? Its are you using acme screw? The speed its unreal... How fast is the fastest you can get? What are the nuts made of?

I'm still using the same structure. I have 5 mm lead ballscrews on the X and Y and a precision lead screw (steel/bronze nut) on the Z (only because that's what I got on Ebay at the time). The key to high speed is in using ballscrews. I think I would have used 10 mm lead ballscrews if I did it again.
The maximum speed I can mill at now is ~116 mm/s. It can rapid at over 150 mm/s.

Man ure machine is really good, wanna share where you bought it? I want the same one...

Thanks.
I designed and built the machine myself using CAD software. I made a thread when I built it in the forum at cnczone where you can see the process. My username there is the same as here on youtube.
