The reason they "have it on a plate" is because they now agressively split the pack. Back in the day it was all safety safety. Now people liek mark williams and ronnie and hendry have shown you that 1 long read and your 1-0 down.

Stronger era? Not sure I agree. Can only be judged by opposition.
70's Reardon had to face Spencer, Charlton, Pulman and Higgins to name a few, to win his titles.
80's Davis had to contend with Higgins, White and Thorburn (a couple of the best potters the game's ever seen and one of the most tenacious)
90's Hendry had White mostly to contend with but White WAS the best player never to win one, I think "arguably" can safely be removed from that sentence, whether you're a fan or not.

I agree that if combined Ronnie's talent with any of those guys, you would have the perfect snooker machine....but then I guess it would be just a contest to see who came runner-up ;O)
