Released in November 1979, the first new number one of the 1980s was Brass In Pocket by The Pretenders, knocking Another Brick In The Wall by Pink Floyd off the top spot. Join Radio 1 DJ Tony Blackburn as he transports you back to Sunday 4th January 1981, (5 pm - 7 pm), for the best-selling singles of 1980. Thanks to JV for these excellent recordings.

Part 3/14.

  • great days!..1980 the year i started comprehensive school, in the september of that year, dreading the new school as it was very dounting meeting new people and not knowing where to go and the rumour of getting your head flushed down the loo, and the cain! ..now those days have come to pass and way behind me, needless to say none of the above happened to me, thank goodness!

  • fucking hell these jingles i remember them like they were yesterday.

  • Happy memories of the early EIghties! - Brings back the time of decent music on the radio and artists that could actually sing!
