@thpeter With all do respect to you and your son, I think its pretty normal for different units, especially units who who fought in the same AO at different times to have some rivalry and edge to each other.

do u guys by any chance know a medic named francois???

I can't believe you guys are complaining, when us (1/506)8th grp and cia were in airborne, cop conlon ( inside jalrez), cop carwile in Sayeebad ( how ever you spell it) the biggest compound was like 200m x 100m. With only 106 people, 76 of us were 1/506. Quit crying do your job.

C'mon guys quit trash talking each other. From a civilian Army Dad's perspective I am a saddened to see the hate talk going on between soldiers here. I'm old enough to remember how poorly Viet Nam veterans were treated when they come home. Please don't do that to each other. We civilians have absolutely no idea how incredibly difficult of a job all of you had in your deployments. I'm proud of all you brave young men who wear the blue cord. Thanks God bless stay safe!

Thanks for your service 2/30, 2/4, 3/89th and 173rd soldiers. You're all heroes in my book. No one can malign your dedication, sacrifice and professionalism.

not talking shit here so dont get me wrong, 173rds command structure was all fucked up during OEF X, they didnt let us do shit(compared to OEF 8), all were to scared or stupid to plan missions... all our leaders were either from the eighty turd or from tradoc... so blame them, not the line companies and 11Bs
so you may sit there and look at a certain AO, and think "the more fighting in an area, the more that unit sucks".... its the exact opposite. Heavy fighting means we're doing our job and shooting the shit out of bad guys. when your not fighting, your just wasting our fucking tax dollars and leaving the job for the next unit. and thats exactly what I saw when we RIPed with the 173rd. The LLVI Team I replaced even said "We didnt really go on missions, it was pretty quiet". Fucking embarrassing

Im just not understanding the whole "10th Mountain fucked everything up" thing.ya, we fucked SHIT up! there was not a single area in Wardak or Logar that wasnt getting lit up everyday. you may think that means shit got worse, and that would be the case if WE were just in a defensive posture, but thats not the case, we were on offensive and just blowing the shit out of the province. thats called going out and killing the enemy. thats what war is. thats what happens when you actually wanna fight

getting Sayed Abad blown up? are you fucking serious? people die when they go on mission. Ive fought in the Tangi, and I was there when the 173rd was "fighting" in the Tangi. It boils down to if you dont GO on mission... you cant DIE on mission. dont give 4th BDE shit for leaving a COP behind just because you guys liked the COP too much to leave it. and as far as "doing what the 173rd couldnt"..... take a look at our frontline trace in Chak-e fuckface!!! thats called a success.
