5/8. This is a monument to Josky's composing in his favorite Shaba rhythm (inspired by San Salvador). Starting with Fariya (1977), almost every one of his compositions was a variation on this groove.

Also, in this era (the early 80's), the maracas was reinstated temporarily, and Josky (who had been taught by his mother) was brilliant at it. He plays it on the studio version of Bimansha (on vinyl nearly 16 minutes long), as well as on the Alita-Mehida-Massini-Limbisa Ngai album (stereo on vinyl, mono on cd), on which Franco doesn't play a note, by the way. And he also plays the maracas on Minzata (crisply recorded in 1987).

The vocal line-up was the same as on the record: Dalienst, Opetum, Diatho, Kiambukuta.

It is my guess the studio version was recorded later than this. That cut is a highlight in the repertoire of le T.P. O.K. Jazz in every respect, not in the least because of Franco's six-and-a-half minute guitar solo. SAVAGE!!

Mpudi Decca on bass, Makosso on rhythm guitar, Gerry Dialungana "solo", Franco mi-solo. Ntoya on drums and I'm not sure about the sax players, possibly Matalanza on the left. Percussionist slipped my mind.
